Volusia Home Builders Association Signs
Historic Agreement with
Local Associations of REALTORS
- Builder/Realtor Cooperative Sales Guidelines
- Builder/Realtor Fee Agreement
- Builder Registration
- Builder Open House Registration
Representatives from the Volusia Home Builders Association (VHBA) and the three local REALTOR associations in Volusia County signed a historic agreement called the “REALTOR-Builder Cooperative Sales Guidelines” on February 26, 2008 at 9:00am at the Volusia Home Builders Association Office. The agreement has been adopted by the Volusia Home Builders Association, the Daytona Beach Area Association of REALTORS, the West Volusia Association of REALTOR, and the New Smyrna Beach Board of REALTORS.
In an effort to improve the spirit of cooperation between the four organizations, a task force of leadership from the Sales and Marketing Council of the VHBA and the REALTOR associations developed the agreement to outline recommended professional practices between Builders and REALTORS. The agreement, the first of its kind for the organizations in the county, clarifies the roles of the Builder and REALTOR in the sale of new residential construction. Besides outlining professional practices, the agreement creates a “REALTOR-Builder Arbitration Panel” to handle disputes.
While the agreement is voluntary, the Boards of Directors of all four associations adopted it, and are encouraging their respective members to honor both the letter and spirit of the agreement.
“In addition to helping REALTORS and Builders cooperate more effectively and efficiently, this agreement will ultimately help buyers who wish to purchase new homes with the help of their REALTORS,” explained Nancy Dance, President of the Daytona Beach Area Association of REALTORS.
“Our agreement includes registration forms, a fee agreement form, and an open house registration form for use by our members when working with the three local boards of REALTORS for coop sales,” explained Stan Janzen, President of the VHBA. “This can be a step to building relationships with the REALTOR associations in other areas as well, he added.
