Builders Care is a non-profi t organization
started by the Volusia County Home
Builders Association to provide
construction services at no cost to deserving
elderly and disabled homeowners who cannot
obtain home repairs through traditional means.
Founded in 2006, Builders Care enlists the expertise and labor of Association members to offer a full range of home repair and renovation services.
Our recipients are primarily elderly and handicapped homeowners who are in financial need and are living in sub-standard housing conditions.
Builders Care exists to improve the quality of life for deserving Volusia residents. How can we improve their quality of life? Perhaps by widening a doorway for wheelchair access, replacing a roof or building a ramp for handicapped access to their residence. The work may not be too hard, but is essential for liveability.
Recipients are referred to Builders Care by area social service agencies, churches and the community at large. Each case is carefully evaluated by Builders Care staff and governing board members.
Builders Care is funded through financial donations, grants, and donated services and materials from area builders, subcontractors and construction-related businesses. Churches and other community groups also participate by providing fund raising services and volunteers to work on renovation projects.
