  • Reports To:              VBIA Executive Board & Board Officers

Organization Profile:  The Volusia Building Industry Association is located in Daytona Beach, Florida.  The VBIA is a professional trade association comprised of companies engaged in and in service to the building industry.  The association exhibits the following attributes:

  • The organization is financially sound 501c6 corporation
  • The membership is comprised of 297 member companies, which include commercial and residential builders as well as trade contractors.
  • The organization has been in existence for 56 years
  • The organizational structure includes an 8 member Executive Board, 14 member Board of Directors, and one full-time staff including the Marketing/Communications Director and Bookkeeper/Office Manager.
  • Position Summary:  The Executive Officer for the Volusia Building Industry Association will be charged with implementing strategies to encourage growth and development within the building industry.

 

The Executive Officer will work closely with the President, Executive Board, Board and members.  The Executive Officer will play a vital role in the longer-term plan for the VBIA in achieving their ambitious vision.

  • Essential Duties & Responsibilities:  As a key member of the senior management team, the Executive Officer participates in the overall long-range planning for the VBIA.

The Executive Officer supervises the VBIA staff in all respects. 

Directs and implements all aspects of the development program in conjunction with the Executive Board and Board Officers.

Develops a comprehensive strategic development plan, clearly details goals, objective, schedules, long range planning and budgets consistent with the vision and mission of the VBIA.

Strengthens and promotes the public image, mission and values of the VBIA with the public and private agencies, corporations and individuals to define the role of the VBIA.

Provide executive leadership in the day-to-day operation of the VBIA.  In doing so, planning and goal setting for the office, staff and record keeping functions.  This also includes developing an appropriate process for measuring and reporting the impact and effectiveness of the operations, and the financial and operational management of the organization.

  • Qualifications:  Qualities and experiences that ideal candidates should display includes

College degree from an accredited college or university.

Three years of senior level management experience.

Senior-level management experience and the ability to effectively build a staff organization to achieve development goals and objectives.

Demonstrate management skills to organize, direct, motivate and evaluate.

Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports.

Demonstrated ability to communicate both orally and in writing, excellent public speaking skills are essential.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

A high level of initiative, strong personal work ethic and energy.

A “hands-on” approach to the responsibilities of the position.

Knowledge about information systems and current software.

Able to accept and support the mission, philosophy and values of the VBIA.

Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standard, through development of new ideas and technology, promote teamwork to achieve VBIA mission and understand and exceed customer expectations.
