What is a Committee

Committees are established by the Board of Directors to carry out the work of the Association. Committees are made up of volunteer members of the Association. Any employee of a member firm in good standing may join a committee. The VHBA President appoints committee chairs each year. In the case of the Sales & Marketing Council and Housing For Tomorrow, they are a Council and CCE and elect their own chairmen.

Committees are the work groups of the Association. They carry out the approved policies or work program as set by the Board of Directors. They are charged with following the approved budget for the Association. They make recommendations to the Board of Directors as needed.

Why Should You Join a Committee?

As a Member of the VHBA, joining a committee is one of the most beneficial things you can do. Being on a committee opens you up to a world of new opportunities such as meeting new people and building relationships as well as recognition for your hard work. Committee service is the best thing you can do to make a difference. If you want to make a change, you have to be involved. It's YOUR association, help us make it the best it can be!

There are many reasons - These are just a few

  • "It's the best way to really take advantage of my membership...it makes my dues worthwhile."
  • "Together we actually accomplish things on the committee ...good things I never thought we could. We make each other better."
  • "Being on a committee gives me the chance to actually do something about issues and problems rather than just complaining. "
  • "I can give back to the community and enhance the image of the building industry at the same time."
