Code of Ethics Changes

Section 1.         MEMBERS OF THE VOLUSIA HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION, INC PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FOLLOWING PRINCIPLES AND POLICES: The members of the Association shall be limited to those persons and firms who shall subscribe to the following code of ethics.

Members of the Association believe and affirm that:

  • Homeownership can and should be within the reach of every American family and shall be vigorously supported and promoted by our members.
  • American Homes should be well designed, well constructed, and well located in attractive communities with educational, recreational, religious and shopping facilites accessible to all.

Section 2          To achieve these goals, we pledge the following obligations freely and solemnly, mindful that they are part of our responsibilities as members of the Association:

  • Our paramount responsibility is to our members, our customers, our community and our country.  To this end, we pledge honesty and fairness as our guiding principles in the conduct of our businsess practices.  Members shall deal honestly and fairly with their customers and with their respective employees, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • We agree to:
    • Uphold and abide by the laws of tis state and nation and abide by the rules and regulations of our principle associations.
    • Promote the preservation of legitimate property rights.
    • Support the fundamental rights and basic freedoms.
    • Hold inviolate the free enterprise system and the American way of life.
    • Pursue and abide by high ethical standards associated with good individual character and business reputation including conducting our business in the highest professional manner and with truthful advertising.  As members, we pledge that our behavior, conduct and human actions shall not be detrimental to basic moral and ethical standards of human decency and that our actions and conduct shall not adversely affect or impede the Association’s goodwill, reputation, fundamental beliefs and obligations.
    • Build into every home high standards of health, safety and sanitation.
    • Support, assist and respect each other as builder and associate members and our local, state and national associations as well as all related industries.
  • As members of a progressive industry, we encourage research to develop new materials, new building techniques, new building equipment and improved methods of home financing to the end that every home purchaser may getthe greatest value possible.
  • All sound legislative proposals affecting our industry and the public we serve shall have our informed and vigorous support.
